Last fall, officials closed the Wild Rice rest area south of Fargo because it was deteriorating. The rest area just north of Harwood is now being closed for the same reason, engineer Bob Walton said.
Sinks and toilets leak, and the rest stop is not accessible to handicapped people, he said.
Walton said there is a chance the buildings at the Wild Rice rest area could be replaced with a visitors' center and the Harwood rest area could be converted into an overnight parking spot for truckers.

Uh, where are people gonna go to the bathroom? Where are they gonna eat? Why can't they just demolish the old rest stops and replace them with new ones?
