What Marion (Iowa) city leaders and some motorists call the most annoying intersection in Linn County is about to change.
Eight lanes of traffic, plus turn lanes, converge at the intersection of Highways 151 and 13 East of Marion, but the four-way stop there always created congestion and confusion.
So the stop signs will give way to stop lights beginning in July.
Marion police say this intersection is a "fender-bender" magnet.
A lot of minor accidents happen here but not a lot of injuries.
They are afraid a stop light will both help and hurt.
Here's your dilemma. You pull up to the intersection look right look left. Then decide quick… who goes first?
Melissa Allen says, “It’s too hard to try to get everybody to go through at the same time.”
Kim Wheat told TV9, “People don't wait their turns at that intersection.”
Marion police added up 58 intersection accidents in the last two years but only one involved a serious injury
